Chocolate City Championship, a title that emerged from necessity and represents resilience and heritage. As Washington, D.C. underwent significant changes and gentrification, we sought to commemorate its rich legacy, particularly its historically large and affluent Black/African American population.
Professional wrestling had almost vanished from the city, with only WWE maintaining a presence. Independent wrestling, too, was a rare sight. To honor “Chocolate City” and its enduring spirit, we created this championship belt, symbolizing the ongoing fight to preserve its cultural identity.
